Welcome To ShreeNath Ji

Nathdwara, which translates to “Gateway to the Lord,” is a small town in Rajasthan that holds immense spiritual and artistic significance. The town is a major pilgrimage center, particularly for followers of the Pushti Marg sect of Vaishnavism, and its life and culture revolve around its central deity, Shrinathji.

Religious and Spiritual Attractions

  • Shrinathji Temple: This is the spiritual heart of Nathdwara. The temple houses the deity of Shrinathji, a seven-year-old “child” form of Lord Krishna. The idol, carved from black marble, is believed to have been self-manifested from the Govardhan Hill. The temple itself is designed like a “Haveli” (mansion) rather than a traditional temple, and the deity is treated like a living child, with daily rituals and a schedule that dictates the town’s rhythm. The temple offers eight different darshans (viewings) throughout the day, each with a specific theme and ritual.

  • Statue of Belief (Vishwas Swaroopam): Located in Nathdwara, this is a massive statue of Lord Shiva, standing at 369 feet (112 meters) tall. It is one of the tallest statues of Shiva in the world and has become a major landmark. The site also includes other attractions and is a popular spot for visitors.

  • Dwarkadhish Temple: Situated near Nathdwara, this temple is another important pilgrimage site for Krishna devotees, dedicated to Lord Krishna as Dwarkadheesh, the ruler of Dwarka.

  • Eklingji Temple: Located about 22 km from Nathdwara, this ancient temple complex is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a significant pilgrimage site for the Mewar rulers.

  • Pichwai Paintings: Nathdwara is world-renowned for its traditional Pichwai paintings. These intricate paintings on cloth, often depicting scenes from Lord Krishna’s life, are used as backdrops for the deity in the temple and are also created by local artisans for sale. Visiting an artist’s workshop to see the craftsmanship and unique style is a highlight for many.

  • Local Markets: The town’s markets are a vibrant reflection of its spiritual and artistic heritage. You can find a wide variety of items here, including religious artifacts, beautiful handicrafts, traditional jewelry, and of course, Pichwai paintings.

  • Local Cuisine: Nathdwara is known for its delicious vegetarian food, prepared in the satvik tradition without onions or garlic. The local bhojanalayas serve traditional Rajasthani and Gujarati thalis, and you can also find a variety of local sweets.
